Sargassum & other invasive tide management Systems

We are the only multi-academic and multi-disciplinary institute in the world with a comprehensive coastal management solution that includes sargassum.

Our team has patented and exclusive state-of-the-art technology for the early detection of sargassum and other massive and invasive algal blooms.

We have current bathymetric data from the Caribbean which has allowed our team to develop forecasts based on numerical modeling which lets our team understand in detail the differences between beaches with and without reefs, breakwaters or other structures that influence the hydrology of each specific bay, the direction of approach of sargassum and the points of greatest accumulation in each bay.

This gives our team the opportunity to very efficiently determine dynamic containment points for the Sargassum using our exclusive Floating Shorelines® technology, which confuses the Sargassum making it feel like it has reached the shore and is temporarily deposited on these specifically designed structures. This already contained sargassum is pumped using 100% electric, soundproof and submersible technology that sucks and sends the sargassum to our patented Geocylinder® system where the sargassum is stored and dehydrated in a clean, odorless way that allows the extraction of the Sargassum to its final disposal center with one or two operations per month, saving resources considerably.

Sargassum & other invasive tide management Systems

Our system allows our clients to keep their beaches free of sargassum all year round.

Our service includes monitoring, modeling, programming, offshore attack, dynamic containment, suction with pumps, dehydration of sargassum in Geocylinder® and its final disposal at an authorized collection center.

We offer the only silent tethered monitoring system with Bio-Geocylinder® which also allows us to concentrate the sargassum offshore and sink sargassum in areas previously studied and authorized by environmental authorities.
